Family Shadows

My mother radiated joy and kindness, always willing to extend a compassionate hand to those in need.

My biological father presented a charming face in public, BUT he was an entirely different person within the walls of our home — a violent narcissist who kept us in constant fear and uncertainty.

When I was 7 years old, we escaped in the middle of the night to find refuge, well beyond the reach of my father's cruelty.

But tragically a few months later at the age of 25, my mother's life was taken. She was buried in a country grave along with my little brother David.

My younger sister and I were orphaned, with no place to call home.

My unstable childhood fuelled in me an intense desire to overcome my grief, pain and trauma - as well as to use what I'd learned to make a difference in this world.

Becoming a Doctor in Counselling

For this purpose, I completed 5 post-secondary degrees, including two doctorates, (Canada and Europe), as well as further study in:

methods to heal emotional pain and grief
the psychology of intimate and family relationships
neuroscience and how to rewire the brain-emotions-body from trauma, including PTSD and C-PTSD

In my life, I've zeroed in on two big goals:

1) HEALING AND RISING ABOVE:

I wasn't just going to survive my past; I aimed for transformational healing that went really deep, right to the core of my mind, body and spirit.

2) BECOMING A GO-TO EXPERT:

I've trained extensively in counselling techniques that are backed by solid science and research.

Further, I've thrown myself wholeheartedly into researching, studying, and mastering some of the most cutting-edge therapeutic methods in the world of counselling psychology.
